100 Best Ski Resorts In Europe

Here at nidski, we are always on the lookout for thoughts and views on the best ski resorts for an alpine property purchase.

With so many ski resorts to choose from, it can be difficult to know where to start. The big name resorts, such as Courchevel and Val d'Isere in France, Verbier in Switzerland and St Anton in Austria tend to hog the limelight – and it can be hard to compete with these super ski areas. Often though a smaller less well-known ski village can tick all the boxes for a ski property buyer.

Which Is The Best Ski Resort For Buying A Ski Apartment or Chalet?

Top 100 Ski Resorts 2018 Ridestore Magazine

Last year we put together our list of top 10 Ski Resorts in Europe

The RideStore Magazine has gone one better (or actually 90 better!) and picked out the Best 100 Ski Resorts in Europe.

Their list includes ski resorts across Europe, from France to Slovenia, Austria to Sweden, each pick offering something unique.

There is no "Number 1" resort; instead it's a comprehensive guide to Europe's top ski resorts, large and small. It offers a fantastic starting point for any ski property buyer – or any ski holidaymaker - who wants to know which ski resorts are most family-friendly or have the best range of off-ski activity, are good for partying or offer the best backcountry.

The Judging Panel, made up Professional Skiers, Ian Rocca and Florian Preuss, UK Freeriding Champion, Angelica Sykes and Extreme Skier Pontus Karlsson and Freerider Max Hemminger (all people who know their snow!) also pick out those ski resorts who offer the best "all-around" experience on the mountain.

Buy a Chalet in the French Alps with nidskiMany of the usual suspects feature in the list – such as Alpe d'Huez and Val Thorens (recently voted Best European Ski Resort 2019 in the European Best Destinations Award 2019 and the World's Best Ski Resort 2018 in the World Ski Awards 2018 respectively) - but there are some surprises too.

Did you know you can get straight to the slopes, by cable car, from Innsbruck? A great choice if you want the buzz of a city near the slopes. Like going to Ibiza for your summer parties? Then look no further than the Austrian ski resort of Solden for a similar winter vibe. Always fancied skiing on a live volcano? You can on Mount Etna in Sicily. Keen to clock up lots of ski kms in your day on the piste? The French ski resort of St Sorlin d'Arves in the Sybelles ski area offers access to 310km of slopes, un vrai “French secret”.
