What’s New in Les Arcs this Winter?!
Paradiski are doing all they can to make this winter the best that anyone has seen in ages, and how are they doing that? Starting in Les Arcs, they have been investing in the pistes, chairs, snowmaking and even accommodation in an effort to continuously improve the popular resort.
An Improved Beginners Ski Area
The Valley des Arcs has had a huge facelift to create a more beginner-friendly area. The pistes have been widened and sculpted to improve the gradient and there are several new snow cannons to ensure more snow in the early and late season, so beginners don’t have to venture onto terrain which might be too difficult for them.
A New Lift
This summer, the Pre-Saint Esprit lift in Arc 2000 was replaced. The new lift will be able to carry twice the passengers and climb twice the altitude in half the time! Measuring 3km long, this new chair is the longest in France, and only takes 8.5minutes from bottom to top! This is excellent news for Arc 2000 and Arc 1950 as it means more of the areas will be skiable in bad weather conditions. And if sitting on a chair for 8 minutes doesn’t sound like something you want to be doing you needn’t worry as they have added heated seats and a cover for those chilly wind-blown days.
New Accommodation Developments
Two new huge developments are cementing Les Arcs status as a thriving winter and summer holiday destination. A new Club Med is being built on the Mont Blanc piste in Arc 1600 with over 1000 beds at a cost of nearly €100 million. The EdenArc development in Arc 1800 has begun its next stage of development, offering 4 & 5 star accommodation, a second swimming pool & an outdoor hot tub with views of the pistes in winter and golf course in summer. They have also added a luxury spa with 4 treatment rooms, several relaxation rooms, a Turkish bath and sauna. This extra development is expansion of the existing site which already includes a 250m2 aquatic centre spa facilities.
More Snow Machines
80 new snow machines in addition to the existing 475 mean that 61% of the Les Arcs ski area is now covered by snow making facilities. Add to this the fact that 70% of Les Arcs is above 2000m and you now have one of the most snow-sure ski areas in the world with good snow coverage from the beginning to the end of the winter!
To top all this off, a new complimentary bus will be running all winter in Bourg Saint Maurice, making acess to the funicular easier than before! Les Arcs has always been one of the go-to resorts for families on their winter holidays, and now it is even better. With constant investment and improvement in infrastructure, Les Arcs will continue to be one of the top resorts in France for both winter & summer getaways.
