Sitting in the centre of the Grand Massif ski area, Les Carroz has been attracting skiers since the 1930’s, making it one of France’s original ski resorts. Known for its traditional Savoyard feel, quiet nights and quite frequently as the village one passes on the way to Flaine, Les Carroz has many new developments on the horizon which will push it into the future. Winter

As part of the Grand Massif ski area, the skiing in and around Les Carroz is wide and varied. The slopes above the village are suite dense, and perfect for weaving your way through during storms. Beginners are well served and the ski schools in the Grand Massif are some of the best in the world. Intermediate skiers have plenty to practice on and progress to, and experts are well served by the several blacks and the extensive off-piste in the different sectors, particularly the Molliets and Vernant valleys between Les Carroz and Flaine. Those looking to let loose in the park will not have to wait long with the construction of L’Oasis – a terrain park set to rival The Stash in Avoriaz – beginning soon.

Summer

Summer in Les Carroz is every bit as exciting as the winter season. There are hundreds of kilometres of hiking trails for those keen to explore the mountains and climbing, mountain biking and road biking are the area’s most popular activities. Chamonix, around a 45-minute drive away is home to some of the most famous mountaineering routes in the world, the nearby lakes offer a huge array of water sports and if you are looking for something that involves a bit less adrenalin, some of the world most beautiful golf courses are in easy driving distance.
