Summary

Made up of four resorts; Verbier, Nendaz, Veysonnaz and La Thyon, The 4 Vallées is the largest ski area in Switzerland. Whilst the glitz and glamour of Verbier is world renowned, each of the other resorts has its own unique character and allows you to take advantage of the fantastic terrain Verbier offers at a much more affordable cost. Nendaz lies in the heart of Les 4 Vallées and is a thriving resort in its own right. Great for families, the resort is modern but built in traditional chalet style, and offers fantastic views across the Rhône valley. Veysonnaz is a small family-friendly resort with an attractive village and sunny slopes. It also provides access to one of the most popular runs in the region – the World Cup Piste de L’Ours. Thyon 2000 is a purpose built, traffic-free ski-resort with modern architecture and several easy blue runs, making it the ideal base for families and beginners.

Winter

The 4 Vallées encompasses every type of skiing imaginable: 500km of easy greens, rolling blues, challenging reds, technical blacks and demanding off-piste so skiers of every ability are covered. With a snow-sure reputation, fantastic snow making capabilities and a high altitude (1250m-3330m), snow conditions remain favourable from December right through to April and beyond. It’s not just skiing that The 4 Vallees offers – ice skating, snow shoeing, winter hiking and for golfing enthusiasts an 18-hole course is also open in the winter.

Summer

The summer season in Verbier and Nendaz is firmly established. The intricate lift system opens up 400km of hiking trails, some 200km of mountain bike trails and access to some of the most challenging mountaineering the alps have to offer. The sport climbing crags all over The 4 Vallées offer hundreds of varied routes suitable for all levels of climbing. White water rafting is a popular choice as the mountain rivers thaw and begin to flow, and of course, the 18-hole golf course is more popular than ever in the height of summer.
